Back in 1993 I traveled to Costa Rica with no particular destination in mind. I just rented a car and started driving. Little did I know that I was embarking on the journey of a lifetime. The warmth, hospitality and simplicity of the Costa Rican people touched my heart in a place I never knew existed. Their knowledge of nature and how important it is for nurturing the human soul is the seed that created Terrapin Lodge. I thought that, if I could create a place where people could come and experience the same magic that I had. They could carry it with them in their hearts, and maybe the world would become a better place for us and for our children. After purchasing land in a remote area of the Osa Peninsula, I met Vielca and Adolfo Preuss (local Costa Ricans) who also shared the same vision. In February 2000, Terrapin Lodge was born. |
